Sun- and sea-worshippers congregate in coastal La Jolla, Del Mar, and Solana Beach, where migrating California gray whales can be seen in winter. View the gentle giants, or learn about local marine life at the Stephen Birch Aquarium-Museum at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla.

La Jolla has to be, by all accounts the "jewel" in San Diego. Perched on bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the city has captivated many over the years, and continues to do so today.

With its quaint village feel, expansive views and easy access to the coast it can be said that La Jolla IS the attraction. However, if you had to break it down you would group it into three distinct areas, the beach, the restaurants and the shopping.

Hosting some of the finest coastline in the county, La Jolla offers beachgoers and sun worshippers the chance to come play, relax and sun bath on some of the finest beaches on the mainland. The beaches rival ones in Hawaii for their beauty, seclusion and serenity. From the long white sand expanse of La Jolla Shores to the quiet and relaxing half crescent beach off Marine Street you have plenty to enjoy and find a piece your piece of paradise.

The restaurants here are world class, playing host to some of the finest chefs and up and coming chefs in the country. With its year round growing season, these chefs receive some of the finest products available to work their collective magic and bring you one of the most memorable meals of your lifetime.

The village of La Jolla is said to rival some of the finest shopping areas in Europe and the Mediterranean, and for good reason. The area is a playground to the jet set, and most of the affluence in the county is located within the city limits. No other place in San Diego offers all of this, packed into such a small and compact area.

So come and take in an experience of a lifetime, here in sunny La Jolla!

People throughout the world recognize La Jolla, California as an exclusive vacation destination, with not only some of the world's best weather, but some of its most expensive real estate.Living in La Jolla may be costly, but a visit to this seaside paradise, a romantic La Jolla hotel stay, doesn't have to break the bank!

Rule 1
Plan everything in advance. There is nothing worse than a poorly planned trip. Start right from the beginning i.e. deciding your destination to booking your tickets to the reservation of your accommodation. One important thing here to mention is about your packing. Make sure you pack all your essentials and spare clothes to be used incase the need arises.

Rule 2
Be Spontaneous. Don’t follow your itinerary as if written in stone. Try different thing like lazing on the beach to having an odd coffee at some place or just wandering around. This will help you to know the place better which you are visiting and add a zing to your trip.

Rule 3
Don’t try to see or do too many things because this way you will actually end up doing very little. Try having an accommodation at a central point and then make tips to various other destinations near by. Checkout a small region thoroughly than just visiting a larger region with very little time to explore.

Rule 4
Do not stick to vacationer traps. Visit some local restaurants, markets, etc. where you will meet local people, rather than just bumping into other tourists. Certainly part of the reason for going on a holiday is to experience a little local flavor.

Rule 5
Learn some word of the local lingo. Try to learn some basic words of the place you are visiting like greetings etc. This will be very much appreciated. In this way you learn something more from the place you are visiting.
