Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery has nothing to do with the plastics that we use in everyday life. The word plastic comes from the Greek, Plastikos, which means to shape or mold. Plastic Surgery was the name selected by the founders of our specialty when they formed a distinct surgical discipline to correct deformities resulting from birth defects, trauma or cancer.
Today, the field of plastic surgery covers such diverse entities as hand and craniofacial surgery as well as the more widely known cosmetic surgical procedures.

While our surgeon's primary focus is cosmetic surgery, they remain active in other areas of plastic surgery, including breast cancer reconstruction, skin cancer treatment and the repair of congenital deformities. Each of our surgeons and many of our nurses play an active role in international surgical missions to treat deformities in children.
